U.S. stock futures index were trading higher early Monday, the last trading day of the month, amid upbeat overseas trade.
Investors were looking forward to the release of Chicago manufacturing activity data and a speech by Federal Reserve chairperson Janet Yellen.
Futures on the S&P 500 index climbed 5.75 points to 1856.25 points whlie those on the Nasdaq index rose 13.50 points to 3576.50 points.
On the economic calendar, the Chicago purchasing managers' index will be released at 9:45 a.m. Eastern time.
At 9:55 a.m., Fed Chairman Yellen will speak in Chicago at the National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference.
Across other markets, European as well as Asian markets were mostly higher today, boosting investor sentiment.
No major corporate earnings is due today.
