Aug. 29—Tri Counties Bank announced this month it has underwritten a small business academy hosted earlier this year by the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The Chico-based institution said it spent $50,000 on a program that ended up helping more than 200 small Hispanic-owned enterprises grow their business. It estimated the effort created 60 new jobs in Kern and helped 23 new businesses launch in the county.

The academy took place in the first quarter of 2023.
