A longtime Lubbock barbecue favorite is shutting its doors this weekend after more than 70 years in business.

Tom & Bingo's, 3006 34th St., has been in the community since 1952, though the first location opened in Amarillo in 1946. Friday will be the final day for the third-generation restaurant.

"These West Texas winds have blown us in a different direction & we find ourselves at the end of a great era," the owners stated in a social media post on Jan. 12. "It’s been an honor to serve West Texas all these years."

The announcement was made three days after the restaurant posted about the food truck going up for sale. The post also mentioned that potential pitmasters looking to take over can reach out to the business via social media.
