This is Team Challenge's fifth year at the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon which will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013. Since 2009, Team Challenge has sent nearly 4,000 participants and has raised $17 million which has led to significant advancements in the treatment of these chronic diseases.

"Thanks to support from programs like Team Challenge, the future is very bright," says Jim Lewis, MD, MSCE, Chair of CCFA's National Scientific Advisory Committee. "It is exciting that we could have multiple effective medications with different mechanisms of action. This is great news for patients, since we know that not everyone responds to the same medications. It is exhilarating to think that sometime soon our most important challenge will be to learn how to best use the therapies that we have available."

Team Challenge prepares participants to run or walk a half marathon while helping to raise necessary funds for research, education and support for people suffering from Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon is the program's flagship event. It is the largest and most exciting night race in the country.

"We truly value our partnership with the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas event," Comins. "Not only do our participants have the unique opportunity to run down the iconic Vegas Strip at night, but these committed individuals are bringing CCFA one step closer to the ultimate finish line -- cures."
