Six Lubbock area teachers have named the April and May winners of the 10th annual Teachers on the Rise after students' recommendations, according to a news release.
Teachers on the Rise started in 2010 and has students and families nominate educators across the South Plains. Nominations begin at the start of the school year, with three winners announced monthly.
The award is sponsored by United Family and Mrs Baird’s Bread®.
"This has been a tremendous year for the Teachers On The Rise program," said Shane Sumrow, program director. "Through these nominations, we have heard countless testimonials about the great things teachers are doing in our classrooms.”
April recognitions went to:

"There are so many teachers who are deserving of recognition in our communities. We thank everyone for keeping the nominations going all year long!"
These teachers received a $100 United Supermarkets gift card, lunch for two at the Texas Tech Club and a gift box of Mrs Baird’s treats. Students who nominated the winning teacher also get a $50 American Express gift card.
