Tata AIG General Insurance has appointed Amit Ganorkar as its new managing director and CEO for a five-year term, starting 1 January 2025.
With more than 20 years of experience in the general insurance industry, Ganorkar succeeds Neelesh Garg, following the approval from the board of directors.
Garg concluded his tenure at the close of working hours on 31 December 2024.
Ganorkar's experience includes key roles in sales and distribution, product development, marketing, operations, and technology.
Prior to this, he served as the managing director of Royal Sundaram General Insurance and as chief operating officer at Tata AIG.
Ganorkar said: “Tata AIG has a legacy of excellence built on the trust and confidence of our customers and stakeholders. I am committed to continuing this journey of success alongside our talented team. Together, we will focus on strengthening our customer-centric approach, enhancing digital transformation, and driving sustainable growth to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”
Last year, Tata AIG launched India's first Satellite In-Orbit Third-Party Liability Insurance policy to offer coverage for third-party bodily injury and property damage in the event of an incident involving an orbiting satellite.
This is designed to offer financial support for satellite operators and manufacturers.
Tata AIG General Insurance, a joint venture between the Tata Group and American International Group (AIG), has been operational since 22 January 2001.
The company provides a range of insurance solutions across its consumer lines and commercial lines business verticals.
