Sweet Dreams Cheesecake Emporium owner 'excited' to open new location in Sunbury

Sep. 21—SUNBURY — Sweet Dreams Cheesecake Emporium will celebrate its grand opening this morning at a new location in Sunbury.

Owner Jesse Whitmer said after spending the past year inside the Sunbury Market House, on Market Street, he wanted to have his own place.

So the 38-year-old Sunbury resident went on a search and spoke to customers who directed him to 1299 1/2 Market St. in the city.

"I am very excited for all of this," Whitmer said. "We have had such loyal customers and got so much great feedback that I am so thankful for everyone."

Whitmer said he got his start in baking cheesecakes by providing the sweet dessert to friends and family at various functions.

"They all started telling me I should start a business," he said. "So, I eventually listened."

Whitmer said, although he does have a set menu because the flavors of cheesecakes change often, he is excited to continue to provide the sweet treat to the Valley.

"I am just so thankful people have been so supportive" he said. "We change the menu up so often that people can visit us on Facebook to see what we are doing next."

The grand opening is set from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will include giveaways every hour and a full cheesecake as a grand prize to one lucky winner, Whitmer said.

Sunbury Mayor Josh Brosious said he is thrilled to see Whitmer chose to stay in Sunbury.

"I am happy to see another business expand and grow into a bigger location in Sunbury," he said. "These are success stories I enjoy hearing about from our residents and businesses. I am happy to be a part of the city making progress."
