Name: Raju Iyer
Previous title: Chief financial officer and senior vice president, University of California, San Francisco health system
New title: CFO and SVP, Sutter Health
Iyer will take the reigns as chief financial executive of California-based nonprofit system Sutter Health on Feb. 26.
He replaces Dominic Nakis, who has served as interim CFO since July. Nakis replaced Brian Dean, who left Sutter to join a Houston-based aviation company, according to a company notice.
Iyer will be responsible for supporting Sutter’s efforts to expand the health system’s footprint, including plans to add 25 ambulatory care centers in California and investing in digital technology, according to a press release. He will also oversee the health system’s financial operations, planning, investments and accounting.
Most recently, Iyer was CFO and SVP of UCSF Health, a system with annual revenue of over $7 billion, according to the release. Prior to that, he held financial roles at systems including Providence St. Joseph Health and HCA Healthcare.
Sutter announced several new executive roles last year, including inaugural appointments to chief diversity and inclusion, chief physician executive and consumer branding positions.
The health system recorded $365 million in profit for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2023, up from a loss of $538 million in the prior year period when the system suffered flagging investments.
