A Stylish and Shaded Way to Relax Outdoors

Crawl into Dedon’s comfy new outdoor cocoon.

The new Tigmi alfresco lounger from the German furniture maker Dedon (dedon.us) is equal parts sofa and shelter, with comfort and style to spare. Conceived by the Paris-based designer Jean-Marie Massaud and named for the Berber word for “house,” the Tigmi (priced from $18,870) features a deep seating area that doubles as a daybed to accommodate several adults sitting or two reclining. Its powder-coated metal frame cradles cushions covered in Batyline fabrics, and the handwoven roof—made of a high-density polyethylene the company calls Dedon Fiber—provides cover while affording glimpses of the view overhead through the weave and a small, oval-shaped opening. The top can be removed without tools, making it easy to bask in the sun for a time. Simply snap it back on for shaded enjoyment, from glare-free e-reading to sipping cocktails or napping poolside. Lolling on the sofa never felt so good—or looked so beautiful.
