Stonington hires new public works director, planner

May 19—STONINGTON — The town has announced that it has filled the vacant positions of public works director and town planner with the new employees scheduled to begin work on Monday.

The new public works director is Jeff Pescosolido, who had been the director of public works for the City of New Haven since 2015. Since 2020, he also served as that city's director of parks.

In its announcement, the town said he has extensive experience across all areas of public works including construction, infrastructure maintenance and improvement, paving, fleet maintenance, snow removal, project management, budgets and team leadership.

The new town planner is Clifton J. Iler, who most recently worked in that position for the town of Hampden, Maine, where he worked on a rewrite of the comprehensive plan and various amendments to the zoning and subdivision ordinances.

"We have found two outstanding additions to our team. Both Jeff and Clifton bring experience that will benefit our internal team, as well as the broader community," said First Selectman Danielle Chesebrough.
