(Oslo, 27 June 2014) Statkraft has entered into an agreement with a Finnish consortium for the sale of hydropower assets in Finland. Statkraft receives a fee of approx. NOK 2.0 billion. The accounting gain is approx. NOK 1.2 billion.
The hydropower plants Harjavalta (Statkraft`s share is 13.2%), Koivukoski (100%), Kolsi (100%) and Korkeakoski (100%) were part of a larger transaction with E.ON Sweden in 2004. The power plants have a total installed capacity of 66 MW. The consortium consists of Vantaan Energia, Turku Energia, Oulun Energia, Pori Energia and Oulun Seudun Sähkö.
-The decision to sell the Finnish power plants is based on strategic considerations. After completing the transaction Statkraft will not have power generation assets in Finland, but we will still be an active participant in the Finnish electricity market, says CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen.
Statkraft is Europe`s leader in renewable energy. The group develops and generates hydropower, wind power, gas power and district heating, and is a major player on the European energy exchanges. Statkraft has 3 700 employees in more than 20 countries.
