Mar. 22—Indiana State Police today said a traffic stop in Putnam County earlier in the week netted a drug find and seizure worth $1.1 million.
ISP said a trooper about 2 p.m. Tuesday stopped a semitrailer near the 41 mile marker of eastbound Interstate 70 for a Department of Transportation compliance inspection.
During conversations with the driver, criminal indicators were observed and a consensual search of the truck was conducted, police said.
During the search, the trooper found 70 pounds of cocaine, 45 pounds of marijuana, and $47,735 in cash.
The driver — whom police did not name — was taken into custody without incident and taken to Putnam County Jail. The driver is being charged with dealing narcotics as a Level 2 Felony and dealing marijuana as a Level 5 Felony.
The truck was on its way from Los Angeles to Indianapolis, Indiana.
The estimated street value of the marijuana is $100,000 and the cocaine is $1 million, police said.
