KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A new stand-alone Starbucks is coming to Kingsport, according to construction plans.
City officials approved a construction permit on Friday for a new Starbucks at 430 West Stone Drive, next to Wendy’s.

It will feature a patio and drive-thru with two order-taking lanes, plans show.
An opening date has not been announced, but News Channel 11 has reached out to Starbucks officials.
It will be the Model City’s second stand-alone Starbucks with the other being on North Eastman Road. The existing Starbucks temporarily closed in February for renovations but is expected to reopen this spring, according to company officials.

There are also Starbucks kiosks located inside the Food City stores on Clinchfield Street and North Eastman Road, Target at the Kingsport Pavilion, and Ingles on Fort Henry Drive.
Starbucks also plans to open a new stand-alone location in Johnson City on Peoples Street.
Construction of the new Kingsport store is expected to cost $1.6 million, according to plans.
