Sustainable design and engineering company Stantec has entered into an agreement to acquire Page, an architecture and engineering business, for an undisclosed sum.
This deal is expected to enhance Stantec's ability in advanced manufacturing, data centres, and healthcare, as well as introduce new capabilities in clean room design and fabrication facilities.
It will also bolster Stantec's capabilities in key academic, civic, cultural, aviation, science and technology, and commercial projects.
Page’s integration into Stantec is set to expand the company’s US Buildings practice by 35% and boost its total US staff number to nearly 13,500.
Stantec plans to finance the acquisition using existing funds and credit facilities.
The purchase will make Stantec the second-largest architecture company in the US, the company said in a statement.
Stantec president and CEO Gord Johnston said: “Page is a respected architecture and engineering firm with shared values and a commitment to design excellence and innovation.
“This acquisition will greatly support our strategic market growth in our Buildings business while enabling us to leverage our expanded platform to better serve our North American clients and grow our worldwide market presence.”
Completion of this deal is contingent on regulatory approvals.
Established in 1898 and based in Washington, D.C., Page employs 1,400 people. It has offices in 20 cities across the US and Mexico.
Page CEO Thomas McCarthy said: “Together, we will support our clients with expanded reach, greater expertise, and deeper resources. Our strategic plans were to achieve domestic primacy and global influence for our team, joining Stantec positions us to accelerate these plans.”
Stantec and Page have previously collaborated on domestic healthcare projects in Sarasota, Florida.
Page's portfolio features projects such as the Indeed Tower in Austin, the transformation of Terminal B at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., along with various other projects.
Meanwhile, in December 2024, Stantec was in the news for receiving a contract to offer Owner’s Engineer/Technical Advisory Services for the F.G. Gardiner Expressway Rehabilitation Project Section 4 in Toronto, Canada.
