Trump is dividing the U.S. after only a week. It is likely he starts a war next.
Everything else in the world seems irrelevant compared to the Trump Muslim ban. This is not the United States I love and immigrated to ten years ago. I love the U.S. as a country of immigrants. I have always felt — until last week — that the U.S. was the closest in values to my home country, France, and our national motto “Liberté, égalité, fraternité” (liberty, equality, fraternity). Under the Obama administration, the U.S. definitely led the world with these values and I was proud to live here.
Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg and most tech leaders I admire are immigrants or children or grandchildren of immigrants. They all stand against Trump. It’s never too late.
As a U.S. resident with a French passport and a U.S. green card I’m not exactly sure what I can do. I will be looking. I’m definitely staying and ready to help.
Expressing my voice as so many have done already seemed important. I love the U.S. and I have faith it will stop the worst President it ever elected.
As European I have felt the impact of the devastation that one dictator can leave from one region of the world. We have to learn from the past.
Update: two things I have just done and you can do, too:
-donate to ACLU Chris Sacca, Tony Fadell and more will match your donations. I just donated $1,000.
-take a subscription to the New York Times to support independent and quality news coverage.
