NEW YORK CITY, NY--(Marketwired - March 03, 2015) - B&H Photo is pleased to share the announcement of four FE lenses and two lens converters from Sony, adding to its family of full-frame lenses. This announcement includes two prime lenses, a wide-to-tele zoom, Sony's first full-frame E-mount macro lens, plus two conversion lenses for the 28mm f/2.
Utilizing aspherical and Advanced Aspherical elements in the optical design, the Sony T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA provides sharp images from edge to edge with minimal aberration and distortion. The Zeiss T* coating helps to minimize reflections and adds contrast and clarity.
The lens features a "responsive" aperture ring that offers still shooters click steps between f/stops or smooth stop-transitions for video shooters. The Direct Drive Super Sonic wave Motor aids video shooting by providing smooth and quiet autofocus, and the nine-blade diaphragm produces circular out-of-focus highlights.
Sony's first full-frame E-mount macro lens, the FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS, is also its longest prime in the series. With a 1:1 maximum magnification ration, the lens can focus as close to 6.6" from the front of the lens to the subject. The lens has Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to help reduce the appearance of camera shake in your images, which is especially helpful when shooting handheld macro photography. Advanced Aspherical and Super ED elements minimize aberrations and distortion, and Nano AR coating reduces flare and ghosting while increasing contrast and clarity.
The only zoom lens being introduced is the Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS covers wide-angle to telephoto lengths for use in most shooting situations. With a lens construction composed of five aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element aberrations and distortions are minimized while contrast and clarity are enhanced. The lens has a linear AF motor for fast autofocusing seven-blade diaphragm and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, as well.
This FE 28mm f/2 Lens is the Sony's widest prime lens for full-frame E-mount cameras, and with a wide maximum aperture of f/2, it is ideal for selective focus, as well as shooting in low light. The lens construction includes extra-low dispersion, super extra-low dispersion, and aspherical glass elements to help reduce aberrations and increase contrast and clarity, and to help keep the lens compact and lightweight. A nine-blade diaphragm produces pleasing out-of-focus areas, and an internal focusing mechanism provides fast and quiet autofocus.
To widen the perspective of the 28mm lens further, the Ultra-Wide Converter produces a 21mm equivalent focal length, and the Fisheye Converter produces an even wider 16mm equivalent.
