Silverdale's Red Lobster restaurant is reportedly one of 87 locations of the chain's seafood restaurant slated to close, according to news reports citing a company announcement.

The 8,300-square-foot location on Randall Way, just off of the exit from northbound Highway 3, is the only Red Lobster in Washington state on the list reported by many media sources. A sign on the restaurant's front door this week indicates that it has closed.

Red Lobster locations in Tacoma, Federal Way, Kelso, Olympia and Lynnwood remain open.

The Silverdale Red Lobster opened in March of 1993, according to Kitsap Sun archives. It opened the same year as the neighboring Olive Garden, when both were owned by General Mills.

An online restaurant liquidator is auctioning off kitchen equipment from the Red Lobster locations that have closed, according to its website. The liquidator, TAGeX Brands, announced Monday it is auctioning off equipment this week from 48 locations. The website says auctions are live and will end periodically on Thursday, and that each winner will receive the "entire contents of the Red Lobster location they bid on."

USA TODAY's story on the national closures, citing reporting by Bloomberg, said the chain had been considering bankruptcy and was headed toward a $20 million loss for 2023, driven in part by an all-you-can-eat shrimp special.
