“The company greatly appreciates Mr. Scibetta’s years of service to Shoe Carnival,” the SEC filing stated.
Scibetta joined the footwear retailer in 2012 as executive vice president and general merchandise manager. Prior to joining Shoe Carnival, Scibetta served as Belk’s vice president and divisional merchandise manager of footwear at its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. During his years with Belk, Scibetta served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including divisional merchandise manager and buyer, before becoming its vice president and divisional merchandise manager in 2008.
From 2004 to 2007, Scibetta served as Parisian’s vice president and divisional merchandise manager of footwear, and from 1998 to 2000, he served as vice president and divisional merchandise manager with the Shoe Corporation of America.
His impressive footwear career began at the Wohl Shoe Company, where from 1980 to 1994 he served in positions of increasing responsibility from field supervisor to merchandiser, planner and merchandise manager.
As for Gordon, 60, she joined Shoe Carnival in 2014 as vice president and divisional merchandising manager. She held that role until March 2020 when she was promoted to vice president and general merchandising manager. In March 2021, she was elevated to her most recent role of senior vice president and general merchandising manager.
In these roles of increasing responsibility, Shoe Carnival noted in the SEC filing that Gordon was primarily responsible for the company’s women’s, children’s and accessory merchandise. Prior to joining the company, Gordon gained merchandising experience at Kohl’s, Parisian, DSW and Express. She began her retail career in 1988 as a buyer for Federated Department Stores.
This comes as hoe Carnival cut its full-year sales outlook in November after warmer weather and two hurricanes contributed to a sales miss in the third quarter.
At the time, the Evansville, Ind.-based footwear retailer reported that net sales in the third quarter of fiscal 2024 were $306.9 million, down from the $319.9 million from the same quarter last year and short of the company’s expectations.
