A high-flying top in-house lawyer who spent more than a decade in the tech industry, Michael Bisignano has altered his flight path to serve as general counsel and senior vice president for Memphis-based cleaning services company ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc.
ServiceMaster announced Thursday that it had landed Bisignano, a pilot who is “dynamic and engaging … with international experience at the highest levels,” stated the company’s CEO, Nik Varty.
Bisignano departed CA Technologies, a global software company headquartered in New York, to join ServiceMaster. He had served as the GC and senior VP at CA since early 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Bisignano carried out CA's global data privacy and security programs and oversaw a portfolio of more than 1,200 patents. He also was involved in several domestic and international mergers and acquisitions while at CA, which California-based chipmaker Broadcom acquired earlier this year for $19 billion.
Bisignano previously held top lawyer posts at Blackboard, a worldwide educational technology company in Washington, D.C., and Virginia-based electronic payment company Online Resources Corp. Earlier in his career, he spent a year as assistant general counsel for Arbros Communications Inc., a voice and data communications company in Maryland.
Before he joined the in-house world, Bisignano, a Harvard Law School grad, was a financial analyst for Morgan Stanley. He later joined the New York law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy as an associate.
Between his stints at Arbros and Online Resources, Bisignano returned to the law firm life and spent five years as of counsel at Boston-based Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.
His new boss, Varty, said in prepared statement that he was “thrilled to have a leader like Michael on board to continue driving transformation and excellence across our business.”
