Schroders Capital has appointed Vikram Bhandari as the head and chief investment officer of Schroders Capital Solutions, a new position within the business.
Bhandari, who will operate out of London, brings experience in multi-private markets portfolios, having previously expanded BlackRock's multi-alternatives private markets solutions business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In his new role, Bhandari will report to Ingo Heinen, global head of business development and product at Schroders Capital, the $97.3bn private markets business of Schroders.
He will help advance business growth and lead the firm’s strategy and execution in private markets solutions.
As a senior portfolio manager at BlackRock, Bhandari formerly managed investments across various asset classes and worked with a diverse range of clients.
His expertise will be crucial in advancing Schroders Capital’s offerings in private equity, infrastructure, real estate, and private debt and credit alternatives.
Bhandari said: “I am delighted to join Schroders Capital at such a pivotal time. The private markets landscape has evolved significantly over the last few years, and we are now seeing a much broader set of clients wanting to access the diversification and returns that private markets can offer.”
The Schroders Capital Solutions team is set to collaborate closely with clients to develop and manage customised private markets solutions.
Heinen said: “We help our clients build customised exposures across the private markets spectrum.
“This capability epitomises our client centricity and is a key part of our differentiated pan-private markets solutions offering.”
Last month, Bloomberg reported that Schroders plans to shrink its headcount by 3% as part of growth efforts led by CEO Richard Oldfield.
