Scandic, a hotel company in the Nordic region, has entered two long-term lease agreements with JV Nordväst Fastighet to acquire two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, with a total of 199 rooms under its Scandic Go brand.

These properties in Sweden will be renovated and rebranded before their opening in the first half of 2026.

Scandic has been ramping up the expansion of its Scandic Go brand this year, with significant growth in Sweden and Finland.

In July, Scandic signed a long-term lease agreement for two new Scandic Go hotels in Gothenburg and Umeå.

The addition of Helsingborg and Jönköping hotels brings the brand’s pipeline to six hotels across Sweden and Finland, totalling 851 rooms.

This strategy allows Scandic to grow its market share in the economy segment by taking over existing hotels in key locations.

Scandic Hotels Group president and CEO Jens Mathiesen said: “Helsingborg and Jönköping are important economic centres and hubs in Sweden, and our new hotels are ideally located in both cities.

"Establishing Scandic Go in Helsingborg and Jönköping will complement our existing hotel offering and strengthen Scandic’s market position at each location. I look forward to continuing to grow Scandic Go in Sweden, as well as in the rest of the Nordic countries and Germany.”

The Helsingborg Hotel features 96 rooms and is located 500m from the central station and ferry connections.

The Jönköping's hotel, with 103 rooms, is centrally located for easy access to local attractions. Both the hotels will be designed following the Nordic Swan Ecolabel standard.

Scandic Hotels Sweden managing director Peter Jangbratt said: “Scandic Go is growing with good momentum. We’re continuing to attract established property partners who recognise the strength of entering long-term lease agreements with Scandic. I feel very confident that our new brand will open new opportunities for our partners. This is enabling us to expand Scandic Go at many destinations with relatively short lead times.”

Post-renovation, Scandic will operate three hotels with a total of 520 rooms in Helsingborg and Jönköping, enhancing its presence in these Swedish cities.

After the hotels open, Scandic will operate three hotels in both cities, offering 520 rooms in Helsingborg and 593 rooms in Jönköping.
