Sana Biotechnology (SANA) and eBay (EBAY) are two of the stocks rallying this morning despite the market's losses. Sana is soaring nearly 250%, while eBay is climbing a much more modest 12%. Sana Reports Upbeat Trial Results Sana announced that its primary islet cell therapy, UP421, had been successfully implanted into a Type 1 diabetes patient. Islets include beta cells which make insulin in the pancreas. Importantly, the patient's pancreatic beta cells survived and were functioning four weeks after the implantation. Moreover, even though no immunosuppression methods were used, the implanted islet cells " evaded immune responses," Sana reported.

"The clinical data....provide the first evidence in humans for overcoming allogeneic and autoimmune rejection with pancreatic islet cell transplantation in type 1 diabetes with no immunosuppression,” said Per-Ola Carlsson, MD, Study Principal Investigator, Senior Physician and Professor at the Clinic for Endocrinology and Diabetology at Uppsala University Hospital. "In type 1 diabetes, a person’s immune system attacks and destroys the beta cells. Today’s data, when combined with progress elsewhere in the field, provide real hope that a scalable, curative treatment for patients with type 1 diabetes..is possible," Dr. Carlsson added. eBay Advances on Meta's Response to EU's Pressure Meta (META) agreed today to start placing eBay's listings on Facebook Marketplace in the U.S., Germany and France. The change will be carried out as a test at first. Moreover, users will be able to pay for the advertised products on eBay, Meta reported. Meta made the concession in order to appease the EU's European Commission which determined in November that Meta's classified ads were harming competitors in violation of EU antitrust rules.
