Revalyu Resources Invests $100 million in PET Recycling Plant

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycler Revalyu Resources has committed $100 million to increase the total production capacity at its Nashik, India, facility. The investment will allow the company to process 620,000 pounds of PET per day, making it the world’s largest recycling facility for the material.

The cash infusion will allow Revalyu to build a second PET recycling plant at the Nashik facility, producing 100 percent recycled PET chips. The site already has one PET plant, as well as a a facility that produces 88,000 pounds of 100 percent recycled specialty chips and textile yarns. The new PET plant is slated to begin operation in the third quarter of 2025.

Revalyu’s Nashik site uses a patented glycolysis-based recycling technology and automated processing to produce recycled PET using 75 percent less water and 91 percent less energy than conventional PET made from oil. Once the new plant comes online, Revaylu will process around 35 million post-consumer plastic bottles each day.

“This environmentally sustainable chemical recycling process is scalable and replicable and that gives our customers an edge in their respective markets—the technology is a game-changer,” said Makarand Kulkarni, CEO, Revalyu India. “We will continue to explore collaborations globally to build scale and create market opportunities.”

Recycled PET produced at the facility will go to a number of different markets, from automotive and packaging to textiles and fashion.

“This marks a significant milestone for Revalyu and the advancement of global plastic circularity,” said Jan van Kisfeld, managing director, Revalyu Group. “Imagine PET being recycled continuously, creating a sustainable cycle. Our 100 percent post-consumer recycled polymer can seamlessly replace conventional PET in any polyester or PET application.”

Revalyu plans to expand beyond India with the goal of opening a facility in the United States by 2027. That plant would be capable of producing 520,000 pounds of recycled PET per day. The company also plans to expand other partnerships to increase production to more than 2,200,000 pounds of recycled PET per day by 2030.

“This is a revolutionary moment for the PET plastic recycling industry,” said Vivek Tandon, founder Revalyu Group. “Finally the world has a commercially proven, scalable, profitable and environmentally sustainable recycling technology that can truly reverse engineer used PET plastic into virgin-grade quality PET polymer.”
