The U.S. is home to nearly half of the world's billionaire wealth, but other corners of the world are expected to see their super-rich populations grow more quickly in the coming years, a new report says.

U.S billionaires hold some $5.7 trillion in wealth, according to a recent report from global real estate consultancy Knight Frank. That's about 40% of global billionaire wealth, based on estimates by the firm.

The country, meanwhile, is home to 30% of the world's billionaires—along with nearly 40% of those with $10 million or more. By comparison, 20% of people with $10 million or more lived in China last year, according to the report.

But the wealth landscape is changing, according to Knight Frank: India is the home of 191 billionaires, 26 of them created within the past year, the report said, with billionaire populations in France, Brazil, and Russia also growing.

The firm predicts that Africa, with a fast-growing young population, natural resources and foreign investment could see its wealthy population grow particularly quickly in the coming years.

Knight Frank's list of over 2,700 billionaires showed 427 in finance and investments and 342 in tech. But tech billionaires dominated in terms of total wealth at $2.6 trillion, with nine individuals surpassing $50 billion.

Manufacturing is outpacing tech in new wealth creation, the group said. And while 87% of billionaires are men, of the billionaires under 30 last year, nearly 47% were female.
