What PwC’s Chairman Thought as He Watched the Oscars Mix-Up on TV

Bob Moritz, PricewaterhouseCooper’s Global Chairman, watched the Oscars at home like millions of viewers, including the twist ending where the wrong Best Picture winner was announced, CNBC reports.

Moonlight won, but La La Land was briefly declared winner instead when presenters Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty were handed the wrong envelope.

Mortiz was affected a lot more than most viewers by the incident. PwC were in charge of counting ballots and handing out the envelopes and the accountancy firm has apologized for the incident.

“I was at home actually watching so at that point in time we knew we had a challenge,” Moritz told CNBC. PwC were quick to accept full responsibility for the error. “Our brand is all about trust and integrity and the like so we have got to make sure that we double down on that issue,” Moritz said.
