PROVIDENCE, RI--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2013) - Named one of "America's Top Doctors" by Castle Connolly, Dr. Patrick K. Sullivan is well-known for his artistry and his innovation. He is recognized as a prominent voice in the field of cosmetic surgery not only through his work at his Rhode Island plastic surgery practice, but also through regular publication in newspapers, magazines, and medical journals, as well as delivering lectures internationally. This October, Dr. Sullivan will speak at "Plastic Surgery - The Meeting," held annually by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

ASPS was founded in 1931 and has grown to include over 7000 members, becoming the world's largest plastic surgery specialty organization. According to ASPS, their mission is "to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice and research in plastic surgery." In keeping with the organization's goal of furthering training and education, this year's "Plastic Surgery - The Meeting" will showcase live demonstrations, instructional modules, and panels on topics ranging from breast augmentation and mastectomy to cleft lip nasal deformity and face lifting. The event will take place in San Diego, California on October 11-15, 2013.

At this year's meeting, Rhode Island plastic surgeon Patrick Sullivan, MD has been invited to discuss his insight on the topics of facial rejuvenation, as well as lower lid blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). He will participate in a cosmetic session module on surgical facial rejuvenation, specifically addressing the question "Can A Necklift Be Done in Isolation from Facelift?" He has also been invited to present his innovations with facial fat injections at the "Hot Topics in Plastic Surgery" session.

In addition, Dr. Sullivan will contribute to two panel discussions. The first titled "Techniques and Avoiding Complications in Lower Lid Blepharoplasty" will address how to safely approach the surgery, paying particular attention to the area where the lower lid meets the cheek that people refer to as "circles under the eyes". Rejuvenating the tear trough and the technical differences between transconjuntival vs. cutaneous blepharoplasty will also be covered. For the second panel called "Perspectives and Controversies in Browlift," Dr. Sullivan will be acting as moderator, leading the discussion on advanced techniques used in forehead rejuvenation.

Dr. Sullivan enjoys participating in these educational lectures because they provide him an occasion to share his knowledge with other professionals in the field of plastic surgery. In the past months, he has led courses in topics such as brow lift techniques and approaches to rejuvenating the jawline at a conference in Moscow, Russia. He also delivered lectures on facelift and eyelift surgery at this year's "The Aesthetic Meeting," hosted by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation. While Dr. Sullivan loves to teach, he says he also values these educational forums as an opportunity to learn from his colleagues and remain at the forefront of his field.
