CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 22, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Premier, Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC), a leading healthcare improvement company, announced today that one of its AI-powered applications, Stanson Health CodingCare, is Under Construction in Toolbox on Epic Showroom. The Under Construction designation highlights products that will become available once development is released by Epic and participating developers.

Premier’s Stanson Health team will preview the app during Epic’s XGM (April 28 – May 2, 2025) and meet with Epic customers to showcase its capabilities.

Premier’s Stanson Health app is designed to make it easier for providers to optimize value-based care performance through smarter, automated workflows. The app is powered by clinician-trained, generative AI and is designed to seamlessly integrate into Epic’s Risk Adjustment workflows. The app helps clinical teams identify Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for accurate risk adjustment and reimbursement in Medicare Advantage and other value-based care programs.

"At WellSpan, we aim to provide personalized care tailored to our patients, and this innovation adds another tool to our toolbox to help ensure we deliver that level of care," said Dr. David Vega, Senior Vice President, WellSpan Health and Chief Medical Officer, WellSpan Medical Group. "This efficient technology solution helps capture clinical conditions and eliminate documentation hurdles providers may face, allowing our providers time to focus on what matters most: the patient. While our patients enjoy one-on-one connections with providers, we have confidence that they will receive their relevant medications, equipment and care they need without facing unnecessary challenges associated with potential documentation issues."

"I'm excited to see that our years-long collaboration with Premier’s Stanson Health on developing an AI-enabled outpatient CDI workflow is becoming a Toolbox designated application within Epic — empowering providers with smarter workflows that drive accuracy, surface diseases and improve patient outcomes." said Dr. Julie Platt, Medical Director of Clinical Transformation, WellSpan Health.

Real-time AI Insights to Improve Coding Accuracy

Expected to go live in late 2025 for Epic users, the app will use real-time data from the chart, including clinical notes, to:

  • Suggest accurate HCC coding opportunities using up-to-date clinical insights.

  • Surface undocumented conditions to support compliance and optimize reimbursements.

  • Empower physicians and coding teams to act seamlessly on documentation gaps.

  • Reduce manual coding efforts and streamline workflows.

  • Improve claim accuracy and speed up payment cycles.
