Sep. 7—Plum Creek Farm was awarded a loan from the state to build a new facility.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday that the Penn Township business will be given a low-interest $400,000 loan from the state to construct a 4,800-square-foot pretzel manufacturing facility along Bernville Road.
Plum Creek Farm was one of three businesses to secure the loan in the latest round of funding through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority, which aims to support business growth across Pennsylvania.
"Ensuring companies across the commonwealth have the ability to grow and expand is vital to our economy, our communities, and our livelihoods," the governor said in a press release. "The PIDA loans approved today will provide the resources needed for these companies to continue to see success here in Pennsylvania."
Plum Creek Farm, in partnership with the Greater Berks Development Fund, was approved for a 15-year $400,000 loan at a 3.5% fixed interest rate to build the $1 million pretzel manufacturing facility. The company, which operates a creamery and market, has committed to create 15 full-time jobs and retain 16 jobs within three years. The company previously received a $1 million PIDA loan in 2019.
To date this year, the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority has approved more than $38 million in low-interest loans that have resulted in nearly $82 million in private investment and supported 942 created and retained full-time jobs.
