LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - January 04, 2016) - Plantronics(PLT), is ringing in the New Year with a burst of activities taking place at the AT&T Developer Summit and the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), designed to give attendees a first-hand look at the company's communication device innovations in action. Activities will include bleeding-edge demos co-developed with AT&T, Google and Gemalto, in conjunction with PLT Labs, the company's dedicated innovations team, and hands-on exposure to the company's award-winning communications device portfolio, including the BackBeat SENSE, and Voyager Focus UC. Additionally, Cary Bran, vice president of Innovation and New Ventures and head of PLT Labs, is participating on panels at both shows; topics include WebRTC, and demystifying the inner workings of today's tech.

Google Smart Lock Integration (at CES 2016 only) This technology preview will showcase the integration of Google's Smart Lock with the WC2 concept device and demonstrate smart security for Android and Chrome OS devices. This sophisticated level of security uses a variety of factors to determine if it's safe to keep a phone and/or laptop unlocked or if action should be taken to lock the devices when separated from the rightful owner.
Gemalto Voice-Activated Secure Payment Working with digital security expert, Gemalto, PLT Labs will demonstrate how a person's voice can be used to confirm payment on a point-of-sale (POS) transaction, leveraging the secure element in the WC2 concept device to streamline a secure payment scenario.
Always On | IoT At CES 2015, PLT Labs demonstrated how "always on" listening could trigger a door lock/unlock action via voice command. This year, PLT Labs has extended the "always on" listening capabilities of the WC2 concept device to show how a person's voice can control everyday actions, such as turning on/off lights.
WebRTC (at AT&T 2016 Developer Summit only) In collaboration with AT&T, Plantronics has implemented the AT&T Enhanced WebRTC API into its customer service center to enable "click-to-call" functionality on the support section of its website. This demo will show how people are instantly connected to a Plantronics support technician with a single click of a button from the browser.
