BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 05, 2016) - The Decathlon and Pioneer Investments announced today a partnership to showcase the strength of America's business leaders in an effort to fund a cure for pediatric cancer.

Pioneer, one of America's original asset management firms with approximately $249 billion under management as of March 31, 2016, will spearhead the financial service industry's participation in the 10-event competition that has brought together post-collegiate "executive athletes" ages 22-67 representing 300+ firms and raised $6.0M+ for pediatric cancer research since 2009.

"We are honored and inspired to partner with Pioneer. They are among the leaders in Boston's business community and the financial services industry," notes Dave Maloney, Founder of The Decathlon. "Pioneer applies thoughtful analysis and a view towards the future in its time-tested investment process. With Pioneer's support behind us, The Decathlon's future is brighter than ever."

Combining aspects of the Olympic decathlon and the NFL Scouting Combine with relatable tests of speed, strength and agility, The Decathlon is a national tour with events in New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Houston from June through November. NBC Sports Network will air The New York Decathlon on Saturday, June 25th from 1-2pm EST.

"The Decathlon is a world-class fund raising event that creates a spirit of camaraderie among professionals competing for an inspiring and important cause, to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and lead the fight against pediatric cancer," said Mark Spina, President of Pioneer Funds Distributor, Inc., the U.S. mutual fund distribution arm of Pioneer Investments. This will be my 8th year participating. From its humble beginning to the national stage, we are excited to be a partner in the Decathlon's growth. Pioneer is proud to be the lead sponsor of this year's event, and we plan to bring an enthusiastic team of competitors," Spina added.

Participants secure limited available spots in the Team and Individual Decathlon by meeting fundraising criteria. All funds raised by participants support leading pediatric cancer institutions including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, and Rush University Medical Center.
