Piksel Unveils 2Si Interactivity Integration With Ex Machina's PlayToTV at NAB & MIPTV

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 5, 2014) - Piksel, a global provider of video monetization software and services, will preview an enhanced version of its second screen framework, 2Si, featuring all-new interactivity features from partner Ex Machina, at NAB and MIPTV next week.

"By integrating Ex Machina's interactivity features in Piksel we are building on 2Si's positioning as a one-stop shop for content owners, aggregators and distributors looking for a best-of-breed second screen experience. We've combined the key elements of social, programming, recommendations, VoD, advertising for monetization and now interactivity into one very flexible, modular, white-label solution which is part of the Piksel Palette," said Mark Portu, Chief Product Officer at Piksel.

"We're excited to announce our partnership with Ex Machina -- the hottest second screen interactivity business in the industry, capitalizing on its expertise for a deeper and fulfilling second screen solution for our customers."

Jeroen Elfferich, Ex Machina's co-founder and CEO, adds, "We're thrilled to have PlayToTV providing the core interactive technology to seamlessly integrate with Piksel's second screen product. We see over and over again that meaningful and integrated interactivity is a key reason for people to want to use their second screen. Interactivity boosts conversion from TV to online and results in true engagement. 2Si offers a complete white label second screen framework, offering content owners and aggregators a great way to manage a holistic second screen experience, now including interactivity. Our collaboration means second screen is going to get better and better, for users, TV companies and advertisers."

The new elements allow deployment of interactive elements such as trivia questions, predictions, ratings and polls to the second screen with ease, enabling content owners, broadcasters and service providers to leverage the interactive benefits of the second screen into their offering in a low impact manner. Elements can be added at specific times or deployed on-the-fly in a live setting, allowing for both live and pre-recorded content to benefit from interactivity. These features, when combined with on-screen call to actions, encourage user engagement and increase stickiness, as viewers connect with programming in manners never possible before. Further social elements encourage engagement by allowing users to see which of their Facebook friends are playing along, their scores, and the ability to chat with them from within the app.
