Philips Opens Co-Creation Center to Tackle Healthcare Issues

Pioneer diversified health and well-being company Koninklijke Philips N.V. PHG believes in remaining true to its tagline, “Innovation and You.” As part of its efforts to simplify the healthcare system, the company disclosed the opening of its first HealthSuite Labs co-creation center at High Tech Campus Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

This center offers healthcare organizations the environment to leverage digital healthcare innovation and aid them in transforming themselves for connected and high value-based, patient-centered care models. The new setup aids co-creation and execution of integrated care solutions by multidisciplinary teams formed by a combination of Philips’s scientists and clinical, design and business experts as well as healthcare directors, clinicians, general practitioners and patients.

Along with this, Philips collaborated with the regional care network – Zorgnetwerk Midden-Brabant (‘ZMBR’). This healthcare network embodies the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital plus home care nurses, general practitioners, dietitians and patients in the area. With the aid of Philips’ HealthSuite Labs co-creation center, the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital and other organizations are creating a new regional connected health model for type-2 diabetes. Encouragingly, this is the first model of such kind in the Netherlands and will offer patients access and control over their personal actionable health data. Also, the partnership sets an example of how other health care organizations can co-create in the center to tackle complex challenges faced by the healthcare systems.

The solutions developed in the HealthSuite Lab co-creation center can be permitted by Philips’ secure cloud-based IT infrastructure, HealthSuite Digital Platform. Moreover, with the launch of this highly innovative facility, Philips is looking forward to introducing it on a global platform and has planned initial launches in Asia and the US.

In Conclusion

Over the past few quarters, Philips has been taking significant strides to strengthen its healthcare sector and position it as a key driver of growth. Most recently, the company announced the display of its premium and latest cardiology solutions – Heart Model, IntelliSpace Cardiovascular and EchoNavigator – at the European Society of Cardiology (‘‘ESC’’) Congress 2015.

We believe Philips’ groundbreaking innovations in the healthcare segment, combined with long-term partnerships with key hospitals in the U.S., Europe and Africa to develop breakthrough solutions in healthcare, holds significant growth opportunities in the long run. As doctors and healthcare professionals struggle to deal with the increasing complexity of human diseases, Philips’ state-of-the-art devices and facilities will likely become more popular in hospitals and clinics, thus boosting the company’s prospects.
