WINNIPEG, MB--(Marketwire - Nov 16, 2012) - Mrs. Alexander and her siblings are pleading to the U.S. and Canada to make an agreement to grant their father an immediate return back to the U.S. based on compassionate and humanitarian grounds. Mr. MacDonald, age 73, is in stage four bone cancer that has metastases into the spine. Doctor's prognosis was 0-36 months back in March 2011. Mr. MacDonald has no family to oversee his medical or personal needs in Canada.
Due to no success after contacting numerous Government Officials in both Canada and the U.S., the daughter of Mr. MacDonald, Lisa Alexander, held a press conference in Winnipeg, Canada. Several news media were there to hear what new information she had since her last news releases in May 2012. Freedom of Information Act through immigration and customs released numerous documents to her that revealed that Mr. MacDonald has a valid Green Card for the U.S., which has been confirmed by Immigration of Custom Enforcement. She also received a document from the Department of Treasury from U.S. Customs Services in Miami, Florida, dated March 9, 1979. The document was addressed to the District Director U.S. Immigration and Naturalization asking for assistance in adjusting Mr. Macdonald's immigration status due to him providing valuable information on various narcotic and alien smuggling activities. Mrs. Alexander has been in contact with Michael Wewers, Chief Air Support Branch, who wrote the letter, he confirmed the information and expressed how cooperative and valuable Mr. MacDonald was in assisting U.S. Customs.
Mr. MacDonald, was born in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1974, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Late 1979, he was arrested in Florida to be extradited to Winnipeg to be tried for Conspiracy of trafficking marijuana. While in custody he escaped and remained a fugitive for over 32 years with his wife. January 2011, he was rearrested in Florida. The United States dropped charges of escaping and extradited him back to Canada to face charges, at that time he was reunited with his children from the United States. His medical condition rapidly deteriorated while in jail due to poor conditions and lack of medical care. September 2011, he pleaded guilty to the charges and was placed on two year house which he is currently serving at a nursing home in Winnipeg.
