OUTtv's National Free Preview Boosts Subscriptions

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 27, 2014) - Canadian broadcaster OUTtv announced the results of their very successful national free preview. The event ran for the full month of March on nearly all of the BDUs in the country. It was the first time OUTtv had coordinated a free preview nationally and it was successful for viewers and for the channel.

"We saw our highest AMA ratings ever for the month of March with an increase of almost 300% over the previous year," says Brad Danks, C.O.O. of OUTtv. "It was the first time we received a free preview and significant support from our BDUs partners. Many of them were very helpful, providing advertising and other support as well as working with our marketing team."

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6 led the way as OUTtv recorded its highest AMA ratings ever for the month of March. Other leading programs included the original OUTtv drama Sex & Violence, the quirky Choccywoccydoodah, and the OUTtv Saturday night movies. Audience reach saw an even greater increase during the free preview, rising over 300% over March 2013.

"The numbers clearly demonstrate a broad interest in OUTtv and the programming we offer," says Danks. "Early results show that subscribers to the channel increased in April. We're pleased that more BDU subscribers had the opportunity to discover our programs. Free preview viewers appear to have liked what they watched!"

OUTtv would like to thank all the BDUs who participated and supported Canada's only LGBT channel during the successful national preview.
