May 26—LENOIR — Oak Hill Charter School announced the promotion of Meggan Eckard as principal. Eckard was officially elevated to the position at the board of directors' May 16th board meeting.
"Meggan will be and has been an excellent leader at Oak Hill Charter School," said Board Chairman Eric Wilson. "In her role as transition administrator, she has gone above and beyond to serve students, families, and build community amongst her colleagues. We look forward to continued success as Oak Hill Charter School grows."
"What a joy and honor to be chosen for this role as Principal at Oak Hill Charter School," said Eckard. "I am thrilled for what is to come for our students and staff. Thank you to everyone for their support."
In her principal profile on the Oak Hill Charter School website, Eckard writes, "My goal as an Educator has always been to make a difference. Transitioning into this role as administrator, my goal remains the same; to make a difference in the lives of students, empower educators, and create connection with our families."
Eckard brings over 13 years of teaching experience and has been a part of Oak Hill Charter School family since the beginning. Back in March, Meggan took on the role of transition administrator for Oak Hill Charter School.
Eckard has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education as well as AIG certification. Her current goal is to earn her Master's degree in School Administration from Appalachian State University.
