NY resident faces credit card fraud charges

May 12—LENOIR — Police arrested a man from Staten Island, New York for breaking into multiple cars, stealing financial cards, and spending thousands of dollars at local stores.

Andy Tylek Punnette, 27, was arrested by Lenoir police during a traffic stop on Wednesday, May 10. Lenoir police Sgt. Stella January said she received several reports of vehicle break-ins, and combined with video footage obtained from both residents and businesses, was able to build a strong case.

Punnette was previously arrested on Tuesday, April 18 and faced multiple charges, including breaking and entering, larceny, credit card fraud, and resisting an officer. He made his bond of $130,000 and was released.

He now faces additional charges of breaking and entering, larceny, and credit card fraud. His bond is currently secured at $210,000.

"I appreciate the community pulling together to identify this guy, who's not from here," said January. "The video footage from people and local businesses really helped pull this together."
