Nintendo’s “Mario Kart Tour” Gets 124M Downloads, $37.4M Revenue in First Month

Investing.com - Japan-listed Nintendo's (T:7974) new mobile game “Mario Kart Tour” got 123.9 million downloads and raked in revenue of $37.4 million in its first month, making it Nintendo’s most popular smartphone game to date.

Citing data from Sensor Tower, Bloomberg reported today that the new title had eclipsed the company’s previous smartphone game debuts.

Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s previous mobile game, recorded 21.8 million downloads in its first month.

The company will release a new installment in the Zelda saga, Luigi’s Mansion and two Pokemon games before the end of 2019.

Nintendo will report earnings this week. Its shares last traded at JPY37,860 by 11:50 AM ET (03:50 GMT), up 2.3%.
