Jan. 7—Herbein + Co. Inc.

Scott E. Buck has joined Herbein + Co. Inc.'s Lehigh Valley office in Allentown as a small business department partner.

Buck brings more than 25 years of experience in accounting strategies and analyses for medical and dental practices, and ancillary medical services (MRI, surgery centers, etc.) to Herbein. He has also focused his career on construction contractors, and business and individual taxation. Immediately before joining Herbein, Buck was a partner at a local Lehigh Valley CPA firm.

He earned his BS degree in accounting from Albright College, and a MS in taxation from Widener University. He is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

Herbein CEO David Stonesifer said Buck's expertise — particularly in the medical and dental sector — enhances Herbein's practice and expands its services.

Berks Community Health Center

Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) recently welcomed two new providers to its team.

Dr. Shalu Joseph joins the pediatric team at BCHC after completing her Pediatric residency at the State University of New York, Health Science Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Prior to this, she worked as a general practitioner for two years in the southern part of India. Joseph received her medical education, as well as hands on experience in various medical specialties, at the Government T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha, Kerala, India. Joseph has done extensive research at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center on subjects including diabetes and obesity in children. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Joseph is a highly skilled medical provider with multicultural experience and a deep compassion for the children she works with.

Dr. Einas Batarseh completed a 4-year dual-residency program in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine at the University at Buffalo, SUNY in 2023. During her third year of the residency program, she earned her Master of Public Health and Health Professions degree. Prior to this, she earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Jordan and served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Vanderbilt University Medical center. Batarseh has been recognized with awards from the American College of Physicians, the Veterans Administration of the WNY Healthcare System, the University at Buffalo, SUNY and the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. She is a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American College of Physicians. Batarseh brings experience providing exceptional healthcare in a multicultural setting with her to BCHC's 838 Penn St. location.
