Aug. 17—A Murrysville business has stepped forward to help families recovering from Saturday's deadly explosion and fire in Plum.
Murrysville Cleaners is offering free cleaning services to residents of the affected Rustic Ridge neighborhood, including free pickup and delivery of clothing. The offer is good through the end of September.
"We understand that many of these families have had their lives changed forever and need help to rebuild their homes and get back to their neighborhood," the company said Thursday in a press release. "Our family of employees looks forward to providing them with clean and fresh clothes and household items.
"We currently serve the Plum area with our route delivery service twice a week and are happy to be able to make this offer to them and help them through this by doing what we do best.
"Since some families are not able to return to their homes, we will gladly pick up at any alternate location within our delivery area."
Said employee Ava King, "We want to provide this service to any of the residents who want to take up this offer but maybe can't leave their home."

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion and fire that claimed six lives, leveled three homes and damaged many surrounding houses.
