MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Charlotte area is losing another brewery, and this one was short-lived.

Mount Holly’s Firehawk Brewpub is shutting down after a little more than a year in business. The owners announced the sudden closure on Facebook Wednesday afternoon. The team says it was built on dreams, of bringing backyard cookouts to people’s dinner tables. They said any catering orders booked this week will be filled.

Business is booming for downtown Mount Holly

The restaurant and brewery opened last May on North Main Street in a refurbished fire station. This spring, Muddy Water Distillery moved in across the street in another historic property.

In addition to its beers, Firehawk’s menu also included burgers, barbecue, fish and Cheerwine brownies.

In Firehawks’ post, the owners thanked investors and diners, and praised the business growth that’s happening in Mount Holly. The city also is home to Traust Brewing downtown, and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has plans for a location along the Catawba River.

Four breweries in Charlotte have closed this year, including Blue Blaze and Devil’s Logic.
