MJCA alum signs pro football contract

Oct. 7—Former Mt. Juliet Christian football star Austin Collier will likely be the first Saint to play professionally after he was signed by the San Antonio Gunslingers of the Indoor Football League, he and the team announced on social media.

Collier spent five years at UT-Chattanooga as an edge rusher, his position for the Gunslingers. He had 38 career tackles, including six for loss and 4 1/2 sacks, in 20 games over three seasons as a Moc. His true freshman year was in 2017 at Bethel where he was a running back. He transferred to UTC and sat out the '18 season and spent '19 on the scout team as he transitioned from running back to defense.

A member of the MJCA Class of 2017, he ran for over 2,500 yards and 33 touchdowns for the Saints.
