MIOSHA investigating after worker killed at LG in Holland

HOLLAND — A worker has died following an industrial injury in Holland on Friday, Sept. 15, according to reports from WOOD TV-8.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it's launched an investigation into a fatal injury at LG Energy Solution. According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, officers and firefighters responded around 12 p.m. Friday to the new construction area by Waverly Road and 48th St. on reports of a workplace accident.

HDPS said the victim, a 41-year-old Louisiana man, was part of a crew working on the new construction when he suffered a serious head injury. A pipe had been pressurized for testing and, during the pressure release process, a plate broke free and struck the victim, damaging his hard hat and causing the injury.

He was transported to Holland Hospital by AMR Ambulance.

MIOSHA did not release his name, but said the victim was an employee of Jesco Inc. based in Mississippi.
