Mindflash Is First-to-Market With Look-Away Feature for Online Training

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 13, 2013) - Mindflash has introduced an exciting new feature to its iPad e-learning application that is designed to help companies dramatically increase the effectiveness of their online training courses. The capability, dubbed FocusAssist, monitors trainee attention and pauses a training course in the Mindflash application when trainees look away. Organizations concerned about trainee distraction and compliance during self-paced remote training can now have greater confidence that critical information is being reviewed and understood.

This breakthrough computer-vision solution was developed by Stanford University PhDs and founders of Sension. Mindflash for iPad is the first implementation of this powerful technology for corporate e-learning. The feature is available to Mindflash customers today, via a limited beta. Beta invitations can be requested at: beta@mindflash.com.

"Healthcare regulations are constantly evolving, causing our training needs to skyrocket," said Kerri Greene, project manager in charge of training and education at CWC, the largest OB/GYN practice in the mid-Atlantic region. "The Mindflash iPad app gives our constantly-on-the-move clinical staff the flexibility to train when they can, wherever they are, including on breaks and in between patient visits. Using the new FocusAssist feature, if clinicians get distracted while training, we don't have to worry that valuable training material is being missed."

In related news, Mindflash has updated its e-learning software to include multiple new enterprise-class capabilities, including:

  • Automated Workflow -- A new Mindflash API allows companies to build integrations that automate even more of the administrative tasks that are necessary for training management. For example, using the API, as soon as a newly hired employee is set up in the company's HR system, he or she could instantly be invited to a series of "New Employee Orientation" courses. Similarly, a newly promoted employee could be automatically invited to a series of "Management" courses.

  • Single Sign-On (SSO) -- A second API, also released today, allows trainees to sign in to Mindflash training courses using the same account and credentials they already use to log in to their enterprise intranet or applications.

  • Username -- Mindflash no longer requires that companies provide email addresses for its trainees, allowing the platform to better meet the needs of large retail, service and manufacturing organizations in which employees may not have corporate email addresses.
