When it comes to lifestyles of the rich and famous, it is not surprising for a celebrity to be on that list. And especially when that actor is in demand, it is assumed that they are living the high life. A great example of this is Michael B. Jordan. From playing the lead in “Fruitvale Station” to embodying the role of Erik Killmonger in the Marvel smash hit, “Black Panther,” Jordan’s star has never been brighter.
Meanwhile, even off the silver screen he has snagged several endorsements including teaming up with Tessa Thompson for high profile commercials that aired during the Super Bowl. But exactly how rich is he and how did his career reach its current height?
Michael B. Jordan’s Early Life
Michael Bakari Jordan is a California native who was born in 1987 in Santa Ana. He’s the middle child of three children. However, at the age of two his family relocated to Newark, New Jersey which is the city Jordan considers his hometown. Being in front of the camera was in his blood from an early age. He frequently modeled for national brands like Toys “R” Us and Modell’s Sporting Goods.
Michael B. Jordan Gets His Acting Start
By the age of 12, Jordan scored his first acting role on a 1999 Episode of the hit series “The Sopranos” on HBO. Later that year he would go on to appear on the CBS “Cosby” series and in the film, “Black and White.” In 2001, he continued landing roles — this time opposite Keanu Reeves and Diane Lane in the movie “Hardball.” In 2002, Jordan was cast in one of the most unforgettable television series of all time, “The Wire.” He appeared in 12 episodes for the series before later shifting to daytime television. Between 2003 and 2006 Michael B. Jordan filmed 59 episodes for the long-running soap opera “All My Children.”
During this time, he also regularly landed guest appearances on countless dramas such as “Without a Trace,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Burn Notice,” “Bones” and “Cold Case.” In 2009, he filmed a full season of the Canadian sitcom “The Assistants” before later being cast in the NBC drama “Friday Night Lights” for 26 episodes.
The Shift to Movies
While Michael B. Jordan was no stranger to movie roles, it was not until the mid 2010s that he began to regularly get cast in feature films. In 2012, he was added to the all-star cast of “Red Tails.” But it was his 2013 role as Oscar Grant in the biographical film, “Fruitvale Station” that made critics, casting directors and Hollywood insiders really take notice of Jordan’s talents. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler — and it wouldn’t be the last time the two worked together.
