Poland-based e-commerce giant Allegro has appointed Marcin Kuśmierz as its new CEO to drive the retailer’s expansion and growth strategy.
Kuśmierz will officially assume the new position on 5 May 2025 and will take over at Allegro.eu during the Annual General Meeting scheduled for June. Roy Perticucci will transition to the role of special advisor to the Allegro Group.
With more than 25 years of experience in the technology sector, notably in e-commerce and AI, Kuśmierz’s career trajectory includes roles at the ITI Group and home.pl, where he elevated the company to a leading position before its acquisition by IONOS.
Kuśmierz's most recent executive role was at Shoper, where he served as CEO from 2021. He led the company to growth and a successful initial public offering (IPO), before selling it in early 2025 for more than 1bn zlotys ($258.58m).
Kuśmierz stated: “The company has undergone a series of transformations which have made it more efficient in generating cash flows and meeting the needs of its many stakeholders.
“To build on this success, I will develop an organisational culture which is inclusive and open to ideas, built on strong teams to allow our people to realise their full potential. My ambition is for Allegro to become the chosen e-commerce platform for many more consumers and merchants.”
In March 2025, Allegro revealed its intention to augment its network of automatic parcel machines (APMs) by introducing an additional 2,500 units across Poland within the year.
The expansion is in response to a significant increase in parcel volume, which saw a 118% rise in parcels processed through Allegro One boxes compared to the previous year. This has resulted in per-unit expenses reductions.
In fiscal 2024, Allegro reported a 9.6% increase in gross merchandise value (GMV) sold, encompassing both domestic and international markets.
The company's consolidated adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation experienced growth of 17.9%, attributed to robust profit margins in Poland and escalating GMV across its platforms operating outside the country.
The user base also expanded, with active shoppers reaching 21 million region-wide, including six million using platforms outside Poland.
