Sep. 30—HIGH POINT ⎯ A High Point interior design business has won an award from the Carolinas chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association.

Barbour Spangle Design is the 2023 recipient of the IFDA Luminary Award, given annually to a person or business whose work has significantly moved or promoted the home or decor industries and whose efforts enrich the lives of others, particularly in the home and design industry, the Carolinas chapter said in a press release.

The award will be presented to Barbour Spangle principals Christi Barbour and Christi Spangle at The Night of Luminaries and Rising Stars on Nov. 8 at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, 311 S. Hamilton St. The event will be 5:30- 8 p.m.

Also honored at the event will be the industry's Rising Stars, 17-20 senior-level undergraduate design students selected by colleges or universities across North and South Carolina. A display will showcase one or two recent projects from each student that best exemplify the students' work and design philosophy.

Currently, Barbour Spangle Design has two previous Rising Stars on its 20-person team.

Also at the event, the International Society of Furniture Designers will announce and award the 2023-24 Tom Conley Student Scholarship winner.

The evening kicks off with an exhibit of the Rising Star students' works accompanied by heavy hors d'oeuvres and libations at 5:30 pm. The awards presentation will begin at 6:15 pm.
