This week, an NFT DAO called LinksDAO formed a new partnership with Callaway Golf. While US sports have been quick to embrace NFTs and the metaverse, some sports have fallen behind the Web3 trailblazers.

Following in the footsteps of the NBA’s Topshot and the NFL’s Allday, the PGA Tour announced plans to launch its own video-based NFT platform.

For player engagement, the Tour aims to create a new fan engagement platform, provide a best-in-class partner to build and promote players’ brands, and offer long-term revenue opportunities for members.

Some big names in golf have already targeted the NFT space, including Tiger Woods, who released a 10,000 NFT collection via Autograph, founded by Tom Brady.

With the relationship between golf and the NFT space relatively green, LinksDAO is looking to drive engagement in the golf community.

LinksDAO Announces Partnership with Callaway

On Wednesday, LinksDAO took to Twitter to announce a new partnership with Callaway Golf. LinksDAO tweeted,

“Thrilled to announce we have closed a major strategic partnership with @CallawayGolf that brings big member benefits across their portfolio of companies!”

Overnight, LinksDAO and Callaway Golf held a call on Spaces, going into the details of the partnership.

Some salient points from the call included,

LinksDAO NFT holders or Link style members in the community will receive discounts and unique access to a range of Callaway products.
Co-branded Callaway products like balls, towels, head covers, etc., are sellable through the token gated Pro shop.
Callaway and Top Golf will become the official golf equipment partners and entertainment launch partners for LinksDAO.

While the partnership with Callaway will be a great one for members, LinksDAO aims to have greater involvement in the game of golf through owning and managing golf courses.

LinksDAO on a Mission to Own the World’s Leading Golf Courses

LinksDAO has been busy in its quest to own its very own golf course. According to the LinksDAO page,

“LinksDAO is on a mission to own one of the world’s greatest golf courses. We will work in tandem with top club management and golf course architects to source courses and properties worthy of a premier golf experience. Along the way, we are building a passionate community, delivering exclusive member benefits and having a lot of fun.”

On January 2, 2022, LinksDAO sold out 9,090 memberships and raised over $10 million.

Following the January fundraising, LinksDAO is in talks with one of the world’s top club management groups. The club management group and course architect will be the key to LinksDAO’s creation of a top golfing experience.

Community members will be involved in the decision-making process. Considerations within the community will include club location, price, and the daily running of the course.

For members, it is a mouth-watering proposition to be involved in the buying and running of a golf club.
