OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2014) - The Royal Canadian Legion has packaged up more than 1,000 Canada Day gifts that will be delivered to deployed Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police personnel in the days leading up to Canada Day on July 1st.
"Every year, the Legion sends a package to our deployed Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP personnel during Christmas and Canada Day," says Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. Tom Eagles. "This effort shows that we and many more Canadians care about their service and their sacrifices," adds Eagles.
This gift is well received by those deployed and it carries our tradition of assistance to Veterans that we have maintained since World War Two. At that time, the Legion was heavily involved in providing troops with morale boosting materials and educational upgrades. Other commitments to troop morale include the provision of funding for show tours to deployed Canadian military personnel on peace support operations, military sports programs and the Nijmegen March team.
This year's package, entitled "A Taste of Home" includes:
Tim Horton's Coffee packages;
Legion bandana;
Maple suckers;
Alberta beef jerky;
Canada ball cap;
Canada Lanyard;
Maple Leaf temporary tattoos; and
Legion LED flashlight / key chain.
