Four women were killed and a man has died in hospital from his injuries after a mass shooting at a shopping mall in Washington state, police have confirmed.
Multiple law-enforcement agencies surrounded the area near Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, after receiving reports of shots fired at a Macy's store around 7:00 p.m. PT on Friday night.
The gunman remains at large. Police are still searching for the suspect and told residents to stay away from the area.
Burlington is about 65 miles north of Seattle.
Other injuries were reported as police searched for the gunman, according to Sgt. Mark Francis, a public information officer with Washington State Patrol District 7.
Francis tweeted that emergency medical staff entered the mall to search for more victims.
Some people who were evacuated from the mall were taken to a local church, Francis said.
The FBI's Seattle office says it is assisting local law-enforcement with the investigation. The agency said in a tweet that it currently "has no information to suggest additional attacks planned in [Washington] state."
An image of a man in a black shirt holding what appears to be a gun inside the mall surfaced on social media late Friday night.
Police released an image of the man who is believed to be the suspected gunman:
