Kremlin says it is extremely concerned by downing of Russian plane over Syria

MOSCOW, Sept 18 (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Tuesday it was extremely concerned after a Russian military aircraft was shot down by Syrian government forces over Syria in a friendly fire incident that Russia has blamed on Israel.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters the Kremlin was studying the situation and would have more to say later, adding that Russia's position had already been set out by the Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry of Defence said earlier that 15 Russian military service people had died because of what it described as Israel's irresponsible actions. It said Israel had given it less than one minute's warning before launching strikes.

"The Kremlin is of course extremely concerned by this situation," Peskov said. (Reporting by Katya Golubkova, Christian Lowe and Andrew Osborn Writing by Tom Balmforth Editing by Andrew Osborn)
